Industry & Client
Pretty N Polished wanted a bold and funky design to show off their creative side! Our client is is a nail tech based in Huntsville, Alabama that itches for design manicures that are conversation starters while also being clean and professional.
Designer Note
Mayra (the owner of Pretty N Polished) wanted more textures incorporated with her final branding suite. After working through her fonts and colors, the grainy texture was literally screaming at us. To this day, it's probably my favorite background texture to compliment logos and submarks.

About our Client!
Mayra is the sole owner of Pretty N Polished, which is a nail tech in Huntsville, Alabama that focuses on builder manicures. Although she's all about growing healthy nails, her creativity really adores the bold and funky nail designs. Anything from hand drawn designs, jelly textures, catseye polish, you name it... She'll do it!
The first thing we noticed about Mayra is that she's so fun-loving! She's the classic "girls girl" that will hold your hand while she tells you how it is. I don't know about you, but that's the perfect recipe for a nail tech. Mayra's manicures can take up to 2 hours, but I promise there is never a dull moment!
When Mayra came to us, she had a strong sense of where she saw her branding going. The colors were basically already picked out along with typefaces she wanted to see represented in her final design. Not going to lie, this can either make the design process easy-peasy or overly complicated. Lucky for us, her branding came together smoothly!
Big Takeaways
When checking out our client's inspiration, they (at times) can have a stubborn opinion on the exact font or even color they want to use in their branding. It's so important to us that our clients have an open mind to the branding process in general because to be completely honest... sometimes the fonts our clients like don't look right when paired with their business name. Sure, we make adjustments to the fonts to provide connectivity. However, some fonts cannot be saved.
With that being said, we will absolutely give it our good college try! This is by no means a testament to our experience with Mayra! She was incredibly collaborative from the jump.
Directional Drafts!
Directional Draft A
What you'll notice between the two directions is that the colors are extremely similar. When going through Mayra's inspiration, the one huge consistency was the neon green-yellow colors paired specific deep wine reds. We leaned into the bubbly fonts with strange layouts.

Directional Draft B
The main font on Directional B came directly from Mayra's inspiration board. We also saw a ton of organic connections between fonts as well that grabbed her attention. Although you could consider this board "funky", it almost feels more "groovy"... If you're catching our drift.

The second directional board was the clear winner although there were elements that Mayra really loved from the first board as well. We also added one additional color that was in a different direction than her original colors that we might be tad bit obsessed with!
Final Brand Identity

Primary Logo
The primary logo in "Pom" which is the darkest color!

Secondary Logo
The secondary logo in "BUTTER" with a grainy background in "BERRY". She received a total of 56 different variations.

Stacked Logo
Stacked logo in color "Lime" with the background in the same color with a lower opacity. This logo is extremely similar to her Secondary Logo, but just has her name attached to the bottom.

Submark Logo
Her submark in color "TAFFY"

Final Takeaways
With Mayra's final brand, we brought in the shape icons from her first board along with the layout of the submark and blended it with the fonts in her second board. Although it's not represented much in her design board, we included the grainy background texture in several of her final logo variations along with her patterns for socials.
Overall, we're SO obsessed with how Pretty N Polished branding shaped out! It's spunky, bold, punchy, and engaging (just like our client). As of right now, Mayra runs her business from her house. We're anxiously waiting for the day that she opens a nail salon of her own and her branding is all over the walls!
